Customer Reviews

I received this fountain as a birthday gift, and while it's very pretty to look at, the way it is constructed leads me to believe that I will burn out the pump very quickly. The manufacturer stresses that the pump must stay submerged in water at all times. However the water reservoir is constructed such that if you fill in enough water to keep the pump submerged while the fountain is running, you will have water running out the back as soon as you turn the fountain off, because of the access window in the back which is difficult to seal off due to cables coming through on the side. A call to the manufacturer didn't bring much satisfaction, since I was simply told no one else ever had a problem with this. Also, the pump is very loud, so the soothing flow of water that I was looking forward to is so overpowered by the pump noise that I can only stand it about 1/2 hour at a time. I would not buy a product from this manufacturer after this experience.

First of all, this product looks great. This is not like the fiberglass waterfalls of the 70s - this looks and feels like real stone. The pump and LED lights have seperate wires, which means you can unplug the LEDs if you think they look cheesy (which they kind of do). The LEDs don't have any special protective coating, so I'm not sure how long they will last underwater anyway. The pump is not silent, but its quiet enough so that you hear mostly the water and not the pump. The biggest issue is setting it up - it comes mostly assembled, you just need to clean out the bits and pieces of resin that the manufacturer slopped about when casting it, place the pump at the bottom, and hook it up to the pipes. Unfortunately the access hole to do this does not seem to be sized for adult hands. This was made more difficult by the fact that on this particuar one they spilled resin on the flexible hose that you need to connect to the pump - meaning the flexible hose was not so flexible anymore. Once you get the pump in place and the thing filled with water, you need to adjust the water flow with a little slide switch at the bottom of the pump (very difficult to locate blind through a small access hole).
So basically if you buy this you need to plan 30 minutes to an hour of fussing around and a few curse words to get it set up. And after that it looks great. My suggestion to the manufacturer - a bigger access port, and a little more attention to quality control, and you'd have a fantastic product. Buts its not bad as is.
